I love to shop online, but I always want to know what I’m getting into before I spend my damn money. The prices vary depending on available offers and time of the year, but let’s take a look at a few examples.
Cooking appliances and electronics including stoves, wall ovens, cooktops and microwave ovens go for anywhere between $100 and $5,000 while refrigerators start from $150 give or take. Dishwashers go for as little as $300 while dryers and washing machines sell for as little as $200 and as much as $3,000 give or take. Dishwashers start from $100 to upwards of $2,500 and vacuum cleaners go for $500 on average.
AJ Madison Refund & Return Policy
Before you even of shopping at AJ Madison.com you should probably be familiar with their store policies. If you receive a damaged item, don’t sign for it. They say you must contact customer service within 24 hours after receiving it and file a Returns Authorization (AR) specifying what’s wrong with it.
If the item was damaged during transit, you should take it up with the shipping company. They accept returns after 30 days of delivery.
You can’t return air conditioners, commercial laundry equipment and special orders though. If you want to return an item, make sure it’s in the same condition you received it, and according to their terms page, they reserve the right to refuse any return.
They accept refund requests as long as the item meets their returns conditions mentioned above, although shipping is on you. We didn’t find an exchanges policy, probably because they don’t do exchanges. But we can’t say that for sure. You can read more on that here.

Ridiculous Shipping Problems
It seems this company does a pathetic job at honoring delivery times. People order items, even get shipping confirmation emails only for their orders to arrive weeks later. The sales people are quick to come up with all sorts of reasons for delays but never will they ever tell you the truth about what’s going on. With their backs against the wall, they’ll offer you silly compensations like extended warranty or free delivery or a discount on your next order.
Awful Customer Service
The customer service unit is near defunct as we speak. They are quick to give you generic answers like “we’ll take it up with management” or “kindly give us a few days to look into the matter”. That’s actually if you’re lucky enough to get a hold of someone. By the time you’re done with them you’ll be at your wits end. People say your back and forth with the customer service reps usually starts if there’s a problem with your order, especially the fragile and expensive ones. They’ll also come up with reasons not to refund your money including blaming the freight company.
AJ Madison Alternatives
With not so much to write home about its only reasonable that you might want to look the other way. You can shop at Amazon.com for quality stuff at affordable prices and also get free guaranteed Amazon Prime delivery.
Is AJ Madison Safe?
AJ Madison is not a scam, but I would only shop there if I really have to. Judging on the complaints online, they may hang you to dry if something goes wrong. And it seems that the chances are high you’ll run into some sort of shipping problem according to some. However there are shoppers that say their appliances are of good quality. Ultimately you have to read the complaints and decide if it's worth the risk or not. Like any company they have happy and angry customers.
That said there are other trusted and proven options like Amazon.com where you have free 1-2 day shipping. So you can avoid some of the long ass shipping complaints of AJ Madison. And if you really want to get a discount or get paid for shopping you may want to consider joining EBates.com or Swagbucks.com.

I was unfamiliar with this store, since I live in a different state. With the description of customer service, it’s not likely that I’ll be ordering anything from them. I have to admit though, that their prices seem quite low. I suppose that’s the way they keep customers. Most of us love a good deal. I would guess that not everyone has trouble with shipping or customer service, so there’s a chance you’ll get a good buy and OK service. Now, if you could only find out why this company has such poor customer service!
I don’t live in the US, so I probably wouldn’t have tried ordering from this store anyway, but it sure sounds like it isn’t worth it! I never trust a company that won’t bother with customer service, that’s just a terrible way to handle clients. Amazon may not be perfect, but they are definitely better and I always appreciate the wide variety of products they offer, as well as the fast shipping.

I have personally never heard of AJ Madison so this was great information for me. This is a great review and is very detailed and informative for people to be able to make their own decision about this company. I am not impressed with them based on your review. Good customer service is critical in any business and since AJ Madison’s is not so good, that is a red flag for me. Also, their return policy is not good for the customer at all and they can just refuse your return. No thanks!

They Suck
They suck; don’t buy from them. They use AM Trucking, which is a very disorganized, non-customer orientated, shipping company. I have been unable to contact AJ Madison about my $$$5,000.00 appliance, that after a month and a half, still have not received. How the f**** do you loose a range?
Avoid at all costs
Recently acquired 2 expensive Friedrich Wallmaster AC units, including the suggested warranty. As soon as the units were delivered and turned on, terrible noise hurt my ears. Immediately decided to call the store. It took multiple attempts with the average waiting time of about 40 minutes – unbearable. Finally, got their customer support specialist, who said that the noise is not covered by warranty and they were sending technicians. Mind you, that these are brand new $1100 units each. Turns out that the warranty is useless. The very next day technicians arrived, tried a few things, but were unable to help. Called the store again, which they said they needed to get approval for a replacement from the manufacturer and they were going to follow up with me within 48 hours. Fine. Waited but no one did. Instead received a plain email after 5 days or so that they are unable to replace. Decided to call and spent nearly 1 hour on hold until someone attended my call. Was not helpful at all because they said the replacement is impossible. The problem is not resolved at the time of this review. Just leaving it here so people are aware of what they can get into when dealing with AJ Madison.

Horrible! I ordered from them and tried to cancel an order for two weeks via phone and email. Every time I called I got hung up on or left a voicemail that was never answered. I also emailed several times with no response. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS

This company is a scam. They claimed they have products “in stock” and then take your payment and do nothing. You cannot get ahold of them, they do not answer the phone and they do not respond to emails. I am filing a complaint with the NY attorney general’s office.

Lied to get our order! Don’t trust them!
Our oven died so we looked around for a replacement. Every place was out of stock so we were happy to see the AJ Madison had one in stock and could deliver in a week. We arranged delivery, planned to be home on the scheduled day. We received an email the day before confirming delivery and giving us a time window. No one ever showed up and we didn’t receive any notification that they weren’t going to be there.
We did the online order checking and it said that it is scheduled to be shipped in 6 weeks. Which is still sooner than some of the other places we saw. Just to be sure we called this morning and were told that this oven is back ordered and they are HOPING to receive it in 8 weeks. She had no way to guarantee when it would actually arrive. We asked why they would say it was in stock when it was back ordered. The rep said that they were having trouble with the inventory status on the website. So we asked, “If it is just a website issue, how did they give us a delivery date and a confirmation email?” Of course, she didn’t know.
The obvious answer is that they lied about having it in stock so that they could get our order. Looking into other reviews, it seems we are not the only people they have lied to. It is a great scam because after you have placed the order and already waited, you feel like you have time invested and you don’t want to lose your place in line. Unless you can go to the showroom and guarantee yourself it is in stock, don’t believe them.

Zero Trustability
We spent $20,000 over the last three years with AJ Madison outfitting our guesthouse and home. All new washer/dryer (Bosch and GE), dishwashers (Bosch and GE), stoves, and refrigerators—the works. The dishwasher in our house never worked right. We had technicians out five times in the first six months before I contacted AJ Madison. I emailed the sales agent I had dealt with for all of the purchases. She referred me to Kellee in the “Client Experience” department. This is the email I got from her:
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out. We apologize to hear you are having troubles with the unit. While AJ Madison offers a 30 day return window on un-used and un-installed items, the manufacturer provides a full year of coverage. Should the technician deem the unit non-repairable, GE with authorize a direct replacement and organize the exchange. Should you have any additional questions, please give GE a call at
Since I purchased AJ Madison’s “White Glove” delivery service and had it installed, this absolved AJ Madison of any responsibility, from their point of view. Lesson learned: don’t bother with their delivery service which was mediocre at best. Better to use someone local that you know and trust. Anyway, AJ Madison’s “30-Day guarantee” is worthless if had your appliance installed. How would someone know the appliance was defective if they had not installed it? I responded that I bought my dishwasher from AJ Madison, and I expected them to replace a defective product they sold, just as when I bought a KitchenAid mixer from Target and it went out two months afterward. I took it back to Target and they replaced it on the spot. The next email I received from AJ Madison informed me that if I continued to have trouble, they would be happy to call on my behalf to schedule service. I can do that. I DID do that, several times. After this, I never heard another word from them. I thought a retailer with the bulk of appliances they sell, that AJ Madison would have the bargaining muscle to take care of their customers; obviously, that’s not the case. Several friends had urged me to use Best Buy, Lowes, or Home Depot, which take back appliances that are defective, but I thought I’d support a lesser-known supplier for better service—my mistake. I’m so sorry I ever dealt with AJ Madison. They don’t stand behind their appliances and they don’t stand behind their word.
