If that's the case then let's dive into my no holes barred AncestryDNA Review.

What is AncestryDNA?

Ancestry.com is an autosomal DNA testing service that gives people the ability to get a deeper look into their genetic ethnicity and family history. The test is from Ancestry Publishing which began in 1983. Its corporate headquarters are located in Lehi, Utah. At the time of this review, Ancestry has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The company has an online network of over 3 million users worldwide.

AncestryDNA Testing Kit

How Does AncestryDNA Work?

The AncestryDNA test kit helps determine the potential ethnicities that make up who you are and provides estimates for each one. The test includes access to a large online database that locates potential DNA matches to help you find potential family members.

Once you purchase a kit, you then fill the collection tube to the top with saliva, remove the funnel, and screw on the included cap. This will release a stabilizing agent to keep your saliva fresh while traveling back to the company. Shake the tube for five seconds, place it in the shipping box, and send it off at the post office.

How Long Does It Take To Get DNA Testing Results?

Results take approximately 6-8 weeks and you will receive an email to review your results online through a password-protected account. A third-party lab within the United States tests the samples.

How Much Is The AncestryDNA  Kit?

Individuals who want to know their genetic history can purchase a kit from the company for $99. The kit contains easy-to-use instructions, a collection tube for saliva, activation code, and a pre-paid return mailer. Users must first activate their kit by entering the 15 character code on the company's website.

Where Can I Find AncestryDNA Coupons Codes or Discounts?

Let's face it DNA testing can be pretty expensive so I can totally appreciate why you want to save some money. Fortunately you can actually purchase AncestryDNA testing kit at a great discount without coupon codes here on Amazon.com. You can also find other DNA testing products there as well such as 23andMe. Sites like Ebates.com may also provide you discounts or coupon codes as well.

How Accurate is The AncestryDNA Testing Kit?

Once you purchase the kit, it can be used by both males and females. It provides results from both the paternal and maternal lineages and features a 98% accuracy rate according to their website. So it's pretty damn accurate.

AncestryDNA Features:

Wealth of Online Resources: Users have access to an active user community, numerous how-to articles, and an in-depth FAQ section.

Online Database: Through your online dashboard, you can view a map of where your ancestors lived, view your ethnicity estimates, and see potential DNA matches with other Ancestry members. Your personal information is private from other users.

AncestryDNA Complaints

Not Very Detailed: The DNA test does not include any health or wellness information. Previous customer say that it does not go into extensive detail as similar tests from 23andMe and Geno 2.0.

Serious Case of Cotton Mouth: Please note your mouth will be extremely dry when you finish providing your sample. You cannot eat, drink, or smoke for 30 minutes prior to providing your sample. The collection tube must be filled to the top and it may take some time to generate enough of the required spit.

Online DNA Matching Not Very Helpful: While the online dashboard can help you view potential DNA matches with other active users, the information may not be completely helpful. Users decide how much personal information they would like to share. This means that you may only get a display username or profile picture, which doesn't help you overall.

Long Customer Service Wait Times: You can contact an Ancestry customer support representative 7 days a week by phone. However, previous customers report long wait times and the hold music includes distractingly loud ads for the company's additional services.

Complicated Cancellation and Refund Policy: The company's terms and conditions for cancellations and refunds are complicated. If you sign up for any monthly subscriptions with the company, these are not eligible for a refund and are subject to automatic renewal. If you are paying for a long-term subscription in full upfront, then you are eligible for a refund within the first 30 days. Any other subscriptions longer than a month must be cancelled within 7 days for a full refund. There are even more rules and regulations other than this and its no wonder that some customers have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau about cancellation issues.

Is AncestryDNA The Best DNA Testing Kit?

Despite the complaints AncestryDNA appears to be one of the Best DNA Test kits out there according to Amazon feedback we've read. The kit is much more affordable than other similar tests but does not provide as much details. However, you can link your results to an online database that will help you build and find the missing links to your family tree.

If you are looking for basic information, AncestryDNA is an ideal choice. But to dig even deeper, you may want to consider the alternative options such as 23andMe or Geno 2.o, but these tests are more expensive. After reading all the other AncestryDNA reviews out there as well as mine, you should now have a better understanding of the product and how it works.

Have you used AncestryDNA? If so, what are your thoughts and experiences about the product? I'd love to hear what you think so please leave your comments below.

Until next time,

Summary

AncestryDNA is a great way to learn about your genetic makeup and family history. However it may not be as detailed as some of the more expensive competitors. But it's a good place to start at an affordable price.
