Leesa Mattress Review: Comfortable Buy or Money Down The Drain?

Is it true that we spend a third of our lifetime in bed? I won’t even pretend to know if that’s true. If it is though, you definitely want to invest in a good mattress. So if you’re here, you’re probably going through a couple of Leesa Mattress reviews to know whether they are the real deal or a waste of money.

Well, we’ve done the research so that you don’t have to. Unfortunately it's not always pretty. So without further ado, let’s get into it, shall we?

What is Leesa Mattress?

Mattress maker Leesa Sleep found online at leesa.com is a mattress in a box company that sells sleep products including mattresses, pillows, bed frames and sheets. CrunchBase says Leesa Sleep, LLC was founded by David Wolfe and Jamie Diamonstein in 2014. The mattress in a box company retails its products from the Leesa Dream Gallery locations in New York City and Virginia Beach, alongside the online stores.

Leesa Mattress Products and Features

Lessa stocks two main brands of mattresses; the Leesa Mattress and Sapira Mattress. They of course come in different shapes and sizes, but let me walk you through what they are all about.

Leesa Mattress

The Leesa features three layers of foam including a 2-inch bouncy top layer dubbed the Responsive Foam, another 2-inch Memory foam they call a Recovery Layer both sitting on a 6-inch dense core foam known as the Support Layer.

Sapira Mattress

The Sapira also features three layers  including two layers of foam and a spring layer. The top layer is a 1.5-inch of foam, followed by the recovery layer of the same size, sitting on top of a 6-inch support layer of individually-wrapped springs.

As I mentioned earlier these mattresses come in different shapes and sizes. Here are the dimensions, weights and sizes you can choose from.

How Durable is Leesa Mattress?

Both mattresses are likely to last for 4 years based on what customers are saying.  But the company has been around for the same 4 years at the time of this review. So it's hard to really determine how durable they are long term. However most mattresses of the kind tend to last for 5 years or so.

Is the Leesa Mattress Good for Back Pain Relief?

Leesa says they’ve built both mattresses to relieve pressure and contours to your body. That's actually a fact backed up by a few customer sentiments we came by. The Sapira is probably a sure bet if you’re keen on mattresses that are easy on the back and hip. At the end of the day, you’ll probably feel snug as a bug in the rug with either.

Leesa Mattress Cost and Warranty

Both mattresses are priced differently depending on size. The Leesa is cheaper than the Sapira, although they usually have deals and coupon codes going on every day.

If you shop for the Sapira on the website or at West Elm, you’ll get the Queen for $1,595, the King and Cal King for $1,795 the Full for $1,295 and the Twin for $995.

If you go for the Leesa, the Queen costs $995, the King and Cal King goes for $1,195, the Full selling for $855 while the Twin and Twin XL goes for $525.

On Amazon.com, they have some great prices that may save you more money. So check Amazon.com for the latest prices on Lessa Mattresses.

So you’ll probably save a couple of hundreds if you buy on Amazon, especially if you’re a Prime member. Again, Leesa gives a 10 year limited warranty, including a 100-night risk-free trial.

Leesa Mattress Shipping and Return Policy

So Leesa claims they ship to all the 50 states for free via UPS Ground. Returning is also free and you’ll get a prepaid shipping label for that. They also ship to Canada, UK and Germany, but the trial and warranty doesn’t apply to international buyers. Your mattress in a box will ship in 2-3 business days and will take up to 3 days to arrive. They’ll also email you the tracking information immediately the mattress ships.

Leesa Mattress Complaints

So far everything feels all cozy and stuff with Leesa Mattress. But you’re dreaming if you think the company is perfect. Here are a few things that may not sit well with you about these mattresses.

“I Wake Up Feeling Sweaty and Clammy Everyday”

We came across quite a number of complaints suggesting that the Latex layer that’s supposed to keep things cool does everything but. And that’s actually the case with both the Leesa and the Sapira.

They Sag After Extended Use

Some customers say if you spend the better part of your night in bed, you’ll notice that the Leesa sags after a couple months of use. Things usually start out all flat and bouncy, but the comfort wears off and in the morning you’ll probably wake up with a sore back. That usually happens after your trial period runs out and you can’t do a damn thing about the situation.

“Where The Hell Is My Refund?!”

Some customers had trouble getting refunds and the customer service doesn’t help much. You may have to jump through hoops to get your refund including taking photos of the defective mattress, playing cat and mouse with customer service and following up every damn day. You may have to pray to the mattress gods to be attended to by these people.

Leesa Mattress Alternatives

If you don’t like anything you’ve read and would rather spend your money elsewhere, you can try out the Casper, Tuft & Needle, the Tempur Pedic or the Purple. The four are Leesa’s closest competition. You can actually find better deals on any of the four alternatives on Amazon.com.

Should You Buy Leesa Mattress or Not?

Leesa does a great job with both versions the offer. Generally customers like what they have going on. There are perhaps a few rare cases of customers waking up to sweaty PJs, or sore backs. But either of the two mattresses are a worthy buy all in all. They also have a A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau if this rating is a deal breaker for you.

So if this all sounds good to you, you’re probably better off buying this mattress on Amazon.com. It's clearly cheaper and also easier to deal with Amazon's customer service. You can also get it faster if you’re a Prime member with the FREE guaranteed 1-2 day Amazon Prime Delivery.
