TopCashback.com is a cashback app and site that refunds you a percentage of the cash you spend whenever you make an online purchase through the site. The company is a subsidiary of Top Online Partners Group Limited, a UK-based software development company headquartered in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. Their US offices are in Rochelle Park, NJ.

How Does TopCashback Work?

TopCashback works more or less like any normal cashback site. They’ll basically refund you a percentage of your total spend in the form of cash, gift cards and other rewards. So you’re probably wondering how they’re able to track your purchases and what you need to do to ensure you actually get your cashback. Well, here’s how you go about the cashback process. 

1. Make a purchase – Create a free account and browse through the available offers. If you spot something you may like, just click on it and it will take you to the merchant’s store. 
2. Confirm cashback – Once you buy the item the cashback amount will show up in your TopCashback account balance. It will remain in the pending balance until the merchant confirms the purchase. 
3. Cash out – If everything checks out on the merchant’s end, your cashback should show up in your account balance. It takes roughly a week for the cashback amount to change from “pending” to “payable”. Once it becomes available you can cash out for Amazon gift cards, PayPal money or an ACH wire to your bank.

Despite following the steps to get a cashback, their account was never credited even after the 7 days advertised. While others made several purchases and only got cashback for some of the transactions. 

What Terms Did I Violate?

It’s always good to read a company’s Terms of Use before joining. Boring as that may sound, some customers ended up losing their balance for apparently violating TopCashback terms. To make matters worse several users claimed to receive an automated, no-reply message from TopCashback when they emailed them for more guidance. 

Awful customer service

A good number of users have claimed that TopCashback’s customer service is the worst. They’re quick to ban you for unexplained reasons, and they barely follow up on money issues. So based on the feedback people feel you can’t count on customer service for assistance.

Given the complaints discussed above, I wouldn’t blame you if you explored other options.. Well, you don’t have to worry about any of that with SwagBucks.com where you earn cashback on shopping. Is TopCashback Legit or A Scam?

TopCashback is legit, having been around for over a decade. But if I’m being honest, your opinion of TopCashback may boil down to your own experience with it. There are just too many negative complaints about them with users claiming they either didn’t get cashback or it took TopCashback longer than reasonable to pay up. Some even got banned for unknown reasons. So your own experience can go either way.

That said, personally I would pass on TopCashback as there are other better and more reliable cashback sites like eBates/Rakuten.com and SwagBucks.com.
