Online shopping can be convenient and cheap, but sometimes it can be dangerous if you pick the wrong store. Chances are you know this. So it's probably why you're going through several ASOS reviews to determine if it’s safe to shop on this online store.
Well, let me walk you through what the company including the good, the bad and the outright ugly. Don't shop here until you read the rest of this review. You've been warned.
What is ASOS?
ASOS.com is an online retail store that sells various fashion apparel including men's, women’s and kids’ wear, jewelry and accessories. They also sell their own ASOS-branded clothing. According to Wikipedia, the online retailer was founded by Nick Robertson and Quentin Griffith in 2000. The company is headquartered in London, UK with local fulfillment offices here in the US as well as deliveries in 200 other countries.
ASOS Prices
Prices at ASOS are capped at around $250. Women’s clothes average anywhere between $20 and $40 with the most expensive items peaking at $200 while the cheapest go for around $5. Men’s clothes including shirts, jeans, jackets and sweatpants go for anywhere between $5 and $70 with the most popular items going for at $10 to $15.
Women’s accessories including bags, scarves, hats and hair products average $10 a pop. The most popular and trending items going for as little as $5 and as much as $80, similar to men’s accessories. You can get men’s jewelry and luxury items for $30, with women’s jewelry being the most popular, averaging $10 a piece.
ASOS Shipping
ASOS provides shipping dates in real time based on your location, so you’ll get an actual delivery date during checkout. Standard delivery to the USA, for example, is free both ways if you spend at least $41.10. Otherwise it’ll cost you $4.10 to get your order in 5 business days. 2-day delivery costs $6.57 on orders below $155.78. Perhaps Amazon.com is cheaper and faster with their FREE Guaranteed 1-2 Day Amazon Prime Delivery.
ASOS Refund & Return Policy
You have 28 days to claim a refund from ASOS. Just make sure you haven’t used the item and the packaging, labels and tags are all intact. To return things like pierced jewelry, swimwear, cosmetics and such, make sure the tags are intact apparently for hygiene reasons, lol. Either way they’ll give you a delivery note or a returns label for all that. You can read all about shipping and returns here.
What are ASOS Payment Options?
You can pay using either of the following options
- PayPal
- Visa
- MasterCard
ASOS Customer Service
They say if you have an issue, you can reach out to ASOS customer service either through their website’s LiveChat or on FaceBook, Twitter and Messenger. You can also send them an email through their website. It seems they don’t a customer service phone number.
ASOS Coupons or Promo Codes
You can find ASOS coupons and promo codes from different sources around the web. But perhaps a better way of getting discounts and cashback is through a site like Rakuten.com. Or you can also try Swagbucks.com which will help you earn free gift cards and cash for things you do online. You can then use these rewards to shop for free on sites like ASOS or anywhere else. Or you can save tons of money shopping for similar clothing at Amazon.com.
ASOS Complaints
This is the part of the review where we tell it like it is. So here are a few things you may not like about ASOS.
It’s tough getting refunds
From what we read it’s tough getting refunds because apparently their customer service can be horrible at handling issues. Some customers say these guys will hang up on you on live chat, or take forever to answer direct messages on either social media or email. You’ll have to press hard or escalate your case to a manager to get your money back.
Negative BBB
Based on the numerous complaints about refunds, it’s no surprise that their rating with the Better Business Bureau is an F at the time of this review. For some of you that is the kiss of death.
ASOS Alternatives
You may not be a big fan of some of the complaints against ASOS listed above. Fortunately there are other options such as Rakuten.com which links you to other similar stores that pay you cash back for shopping with them. You can also look into Amazon.com which is well known for its customer service and great prices.
Is ASOS A Scam?
ASOS is not a scam. They’ve been around for close to two decades and most customers are happy with the company. But you may have to deal with a terrible customer service if you need your money back.
That said, you can find similar affordable clothing options at Rakuten.com. You can also check out Amazon.com and skip through the customer service and refund problems at ASOS and take advantage of the FREE guaranteed two-day Amazon Prime Delivery. Also, if you are all about getting the best deals anywhere, you may want to check out Swagbucks.com which allows you to earn free cash and gift cards for things that you already do online. You can then use the free cash and gift cards you earn anywhere and essentially get items for free. And that's the best discount.
Well, that’s my two cents about ASOS.com. Do you have an experience with ASOS or any other online store for that matter? Drop us your thoughts on the comments section below! If you still can't find what you're looking for here, check out their FAQs page here.

ASOS Review
Summary
British fashion store ASOS has been one of the go-to stores for everything fashion. But recently there have been getting heavy criticism from customers. We sought to find out why and we have it all in our ASOS review.
ASOS is a shady shady company. Stay away!!!
Ordered and paid for items that never arrived. 4 months later, still trying to get my refund but getting the runaround. Shady shady company. Stay away!!!
Thanks for sharing Danny. I hate when these companies do shady things like that.
ASOS IS SCAMMING
On 31st August 2020 I ordered 14 items from Asos. Almost straight away, Asos sent me an email telling me that my account was blocked as activity on my account looked suspicious. I did not understand what activity this could be, besides having spent hundreds of pounds on a first order (previously my daughter’s partner had ordered for us on his account). On the 4th September, I was surprised that Yodel delivered my Asos order, but only 11 out of the 14 items were delivered and the bag was done up with brown tape. Asos had taken £331.85 from my bank account, even though £52.37 worth of goods were missing. Not only that, we decided to only keep £116.16 worth of goods. However, by Asos having blocked my account, I could not return any goods without their help. I wrote to Asos and this was their reply:
‘After an assessment of your account, we’ve made the decision to not issue a refund for your items.’
Therefore, I have lost £215.69 down to the action of this scam store.
