FamilyWize.org is a discount prescription drugs service that helps lower the price of Rx drugs by offering discounts. The company was founded in 2005 by Dan Barnes and they’re currently headquartered in Dallas, TX, USA.

FamilyWize basically negotiates a discount cost on Rx drugs, then passes the savings onto you. To use the service, you’ll need to look up the price of your drug using their price checker tool. If you choose to buy the drug at that price, you can download the card instantly, via their mobile app, have it sent to your email or receive an SMS and show it to your pharmacist.

No Account Needed – You don’t need to sign up for an account with Family Wize to get your discount. 

Price Checker Tool – Using this free tool you can look up the price of any FDA approved or generic drug. You can further filter your search results by form, strength and quantity. You’ll then see cost and where to find the lowest price for it. 

Mobile App – You can also use their free app that works more or less the same as the desktop website. It is available on both Android and iOS.

Great customer service – FamilyWize’s customer service seems to be really effective in handling users' concerns. People using the service say the reps are always ready to solve problems even recommending alternative options if necessary. 

You can get meds for your pets as well – If your vet prescribes a “human” drug for your pet, you can use FamilyWize to get a discount for that prescription. NationalDrugCard.com is another option worth checking out, that covers pets as well. 

FamilyWize Complaints

I bet this is the part of the review you’re most interested in. So definitely check out the complaints against FamilyWize and determine for yourself whether it’s worth the effort. 

You can’t use it together with your insurance – Unfortunately you can’t combine your insurance’s savings with your FamilyWize discount to save even more money. However, to be fair this is the case across all discount prescription drugs companies.

No BBB listing – If you rely on the Better Business Bureau’s word against scams, well tough luck. This company is not listed with them at the time of writing this review. 

Some common drugs are not available – A good number of users claim they could not get offers for common drugs. It can be really frustrating, but this company says they continuously add more drugs to their database. 

Won’t always offer the best price – Apparently Family Wize doesn’t always offer the best price, and sometimes what they offer may be well above what other similar services have. So it’s always good to check with alternatives such as NationalDrugCard. 

FamilyWize Alternatives

It never hurts to check out other discount prescription drug services just to be sure you’re getting the best price possible. With that in mind, definitely check out NationalDrugCard or GoodRx as options. 

Is FamilyWize a Legit Company?

FamilyWize has no serious red flags to suggest they are a scam. They also offer their services for free, including the app. However you’re not always guaranteed that what you’re looking for will be listed. So be sure to shop around before settling on this company. That said, NationalDrugCard.com is another great program worth checking out as well.
