You can find some great deals online. But sometimes things seem to be too good to be true. It’s much easier to be scammed by fake online stores. But maybe I’m preaching to the choir and that’s why you’re going through Free People reviews to determine if it’s the real deal or not.
Well, we did our research and what we dug up may shock you. So I would strongly recommend you pay attention while reading this Free People Review.
What Is Free People?
Free People is an American fashion retailer that claims sells women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, intimates and wellness products, with special emphasis on bohemian and hippie women’s fashion. The company was founded in 1984 by Dick Hayne and they are currently headquartered in Philadelphia, PA.
Free People Prices
Clothes including dresses, skirts, tops, bottoms and jackets range from $10 to $1000. While swimwear and intimates go for anywhere between $4 and $500. Shoes and sandals start at $20 to highs of $300 give or take. You can get accessories and jewelry for as little as $5 and as much as $1000. The really expensive jewelry cost upwards of $2500. Makeup, skincare, oral care and other wellness products cost as little as $2.
Free People Refunds and Returns Policy
We’ve all been there. You buy something and have buyer’s remorse. So it’s good to know about the a store’s refund policies. For US customers all you have to do is go here and print a return label that you’ll use to ship back the item at a cost of $5.95. You can then expect a refund in 1-3 days after they received your item.
Free People says they accept unwashed, untorn or defective items for refund or exchange within 30 days from the day of purchase. If they receive it after 30 days you’ll have to settle for a gift card. If you’re returning swimwear, lingerie, wellness and makeup products, make sure nothing is used, with the security tags and hygiene seals intact.
For international orders, You can ship your return to 766 Brackbill Road Gap, PA 17527 USA. Apparently they don’t exchange items for international customers.
Either way, refunds take at least a week and a half to process and reflect on your original payment method. You can read all about returns and exchanges here.
Free People Shipping
Free People claims you’ll get free standard shipping within the United States, on orders above $100. Anything below that will cost you $7.95 to ship. Standard shipping takes 5-7 business days. Express shipping costs $10 and takes 2-3 business days while the overnight option takes 1-2 business days costing $20.
If you’re not happy with these rates and shipping times, you can shop for similar items on Amazon.com and use the FREE Guaranteed 1-2 Day Amazon Prime Delivery to get your orders faster.
Shipping to Canada and Australia is also free on orders above $100, and other international countries get free standard shipping on orders above $150. They also say international shipments cost a flat rate of $35, taking 3-10 business days. You can read all about Free People shipping here.

Free People Complaints
As you already know, no company is perfect, so read the bad and ugly we found on Free People and decide whether you’ll be comfortable shopping there or not.
Slow Shipping
It seems the biggest problem with this company is shipping. A good number of customers say they paid for next day delivery only to receive the order weeks later. But to be fair they do follow up on such claims. Either way just be mindful that you may not get your items as quickly as you expected.
Average BBB
If you swear by the Better Business Bureau, Free People has a C rating, which may be a deal breaker to some of ya’ll.
Free People Alternatives
Maybe you weren’t happy with some of the complaints you just discovered. Fortunately the internet makes it easy to weigh your options. You can get great deals on Amazon.com, and take advantage of the FREE Guaranteed Amazon Prime Delivery to get your items faster.
Is Free People Safe or A Scam?
Free People is definitely not a scam. They’ve been here for quite a while now, and I doubt they would stand the test of time if they were into anything shady. But some customers feel their shipping could be faster. All the same, feel free to check it out if you’re into bohemian and hippie fashion.
With that said, it’s always good to explore other options as well. You can shop on Amazon.com and get items fast with the FREE Guaranteed 1-2day Amazon Prime Delivery. You can also check out Rakuten.com for some of the best deals online. Again, you can earn free gift cards and cash on a site like Swagbucks.com doing what you already do online. You can then use these rewards to shop on this store or elsewhere.
