ModCloth Refund, Returns & Refund Policy
Anything can go wrong when you’re buying something you haven’t seen with your naked eyes. So with ModCloth, you have three options if you don’t like what they sent. You can either ask for a refund, exchange it for free or opt for store credit that comes with a $5 bonus. Either way, you have 30 days to claim a refund, 90 days to exchange something and 30 days to return an order for store credit. The credit will be good for 90 days. They consider these deadlines based on the original shipment date.
If you are a US customer, they’ll give you return shipping label so you won’t have to pay for return shipping. For international customers, you have 60 days to claim a refund, and 90 days to ask for store credit.
You are not eligible for a store credit or refund if you ordered the following:
- Items marked as final sale. These are the intimates, swimming suites, innerwear, etc.
- Free gifts or promotional items with retail value.
- If you return something worn, washed or damaged.
- If you don’t beat the returns deadlines
They also don’t refund shipping charges, except in cases where they made an error while shipping.
ModCloth Shipping
ModCloth says they ship to these countries at the time of writing. That being said, if you’re shipping locally in the US, you can choose either standard or express shipping. Here are the rates and transit times, excluding processing time.
- Standard shipping – $5.99 SavvySaver/$7.99 ground, taking 4 to 9 business days from Monday to Saturday. Free for orders over $75, or a $5.99 flat rate for orders under $75.
- Expedited Shipping – $13.99 Express/$20.99 ASAP, for orders placed before 10 a.m. EST. Express takes 2-3 business days, Monday to Friday.
The same rates go for USPS shipments to P.O Box addresses, but it takes longer with standard shipping taking 4 to 9 business days, 5-7 business days for ground and 3 -5 business days for express shipping.
In any case, ModCloth says you’ll get the tracking information once they wrap up your order and ship it.

ModCloth Coupons or Promo Codes
Admit it, you sometimes feel short-changed when you’re shopping online without any gift card, coupon or promo code. Well, you can always find ModCloth coupons and promo codes in different sources around the web.
But perhaps the easiest way to get legit coupons, gift cards and rebates is through a site like Rakuten.com or SwagBucks.com which allows you to earn gift cards, real money and coupons doing what you already do online like reading emails, playing games and more. You can then use the money or gift cards to shop on ModCloth or any online store you prefer. Pretty smart, right?
ModCloth Complaints
Ok so we’ve covered all the logistics. Now it’s time for us to tell it like it is and leave the final decision to you. So if you want to know whether ModCloth is the real deal or a scam, read these complaints about this store carefully.
Shipping Takes Forever
ModCloth says the longest your order will take is about 9 days. But some customers have had to wait for months before getting their order. Others had their orders cancelled after the waiting period expired, with no clear explanation as to why.
The Customer Service is a Joke
I don’t know about you but to me, I like shopping where effective customer service is guaranteed. But for ModCloth, don’t expect a quick-fix scenario. For starters, they are not always available 24/7. In that case, some customers claim it’s pretty hard getting your case handled conveniently. The general opinion is that if something goes wrong with your order, you may have a long ass day trying to have them sort out your issue. Fortunately you don’t have to worry about customer service letting you down at Amazon.com.
You Don’t Get What You Pay For
As shopper you expect to get what your purchased. There is an assumption of a level of quality. Apparently some customers were dissatisfied with the quality of items on ModCloth especially when it came to the accessories. A customer said the sunglasses felt cheap while others claimed they felt the jewelry and ornaments were overpriced.
ModCloth Alternatives
Based on the complaints you’ve just read I wouldn’t blame you if you chose to look at other options. Well fortunately there is Amazon.com which has effective customer service and fast delivery with the FREE Guaranteed Amazon Prime Delivery.
Furthermore you may be able score even better deals when you use Rakuten.com to get cashback, coupons and gift cards. But why stop there? You can also join SwagBucks.com where you get to earn free gift cards and real money doing what you already do online. Bottom line is, you don’t have to pay full price when shopping online. Lots of options out there, folks!
Is ModCloth Safe or A Scam?
ModCloth is not a scam. They have stood the test of time, so I highly doubt they are into anything shady. In addition, their rating with the Better Business Bureau is positive at the time of this review. But all in all they have work to do if they plan on convincing certain customers to pay extra for quality. You may also have to be patient while waiting for your order if you choose to shop the ModCloth way. In addition, some customers had to go toe-to-toe with customer service to get issues resolved.
That being said, you always have the option of shopping for similar clothing at more reliable sites like Amazon.com where you can get better deals and skip through the long ass shipping time at ModCloth and take advantage of the FREE guaranteed two-day Amazon Prime Delivery.
Also, if you are all about saving money and getting the best deals anywhere, feel free to check out Rakuten.com or even Swagbucks.com which allows you to earn free cash and gift cards doing things that you already do online. You can then use the free cash and gift cards you earn to shop anywhere which basically means you’ll be shopping online for free.
