Nordstrom Review: Is Their Online Store A Scam?

I learned the hard way that the internet is no joke when it comes to scams. You probably feel the same way and that’s why you’re going through several NordStrom reviews to find out the truth about the company.

Well, count yourself lucky you landed here, because we have the good, the bad and the ugly about the company’s online shopping experience. You may be shocked at what we dug up, so you’d better read this Nordstrom review carefully. You’ve been warned!

 

What is Nordstrom?

What started as a shoe store back in 1901 later turned out to be one of the longest standing departmental stores in the US. Nordstrom now sells all sorts of fashion apparel and household items both online and in physical stores. The company was founded by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin. They are headquartered in Seattle Washington at 1700 7th Ave. Ste. 1500. Seattle WA 98101.

 

Nordstrom Prices

Women’s clothing including tops, bottoms, jeans and jackets start at $25 with some reaching highs of $1000. Shoes also start at $25 peaking at $500, while jewelry, accessories and lingerie average $100.

Men’s clothing also starts at $25 with prices going as high as $1000. Accessories and things like wallets, socks and belts go for anywhere between $10 and $100 while shoes start at $25. Kids’ clothing go for anywhere between $10 and $200 although you can find some baby items and accessories for less.

Furniture, electronics, beddings and other home improvement items start at $50 depending on what you’re looking for.

 

Nordstrom Returns and Refunds Policy

You always want to feel at ease while shopping online, because things go wrong when you really don’t want them to. Well, here’s what to expect at Nordstrom. Apparently their returns and refunds policy is not what we’re normally used to.

They say they handle returns on a case-by-case basis. If you’re in the US, you can return the item to one of their physical stores, or mail the item to them for free by going here for returns or here for exchanges. They’ll decide within 10-14 days whether if your item qualifies for a refund or exchange. If it does, you’ll get a full refund to your credit card. If it doesn’t, they’ll just send whatever you bought back to you.

For international orders, it seems everything goes through a shipping management company known as Borderfree. To return an item, you’ll need to go here and order a printable authorization form.

You can then repack the item and ship it back to Borderfree, who will then forward your case to Nordstrom. They say the whole process should take not longer than 45 days, but you’ll have to pay for return shipping. You can read all about that here.

 

Nordstrom Shipping

Standard shipping to the US is free to all states. You can then expect your order in 3-5 business days. If you need faster delivery, it will cost you $12 to get your order in 2 business days and $20 for next day delivery. If you want to get your item on any other Saturday, it will cost you $35, but you’ll either have to place your order before Friday, 3pm ET. If you need to talk to an actual human being, you can contact Nordstrom Customer Service on 1.888.282.6060 in the US, 1.877.794.5304 in Canada and 1.319.846.4140 for international customers.you can also send them an email  or chat with a rep live on the website at any time.

 

Nordstrom Coupons or Promo Codes

You can hunt for Nordstrom coupons and promo codes around the web. They also claim they sell Nordstrom gift cards on the website. But why buy gift cards when you can get them for free? Good luck getting a refund

If you’re shopping on Nordstrom.com thinking it would be easy to get your money back if something goes wrong, think again. Several customers had trouble getting refunds, especially our international brothers and sisters. It seems they always have a reason to keep your money, including claiming your return did not pass a quality check. So be careful, it’s not that easy getting claiming what's rightfully yours from Nordstrom.

Slow Shipping

If you’ve never shopped on Nordstrom, you probably have no damn clue what Borderfree is. Well, if you’re an international customer, you may want to know more about the company, or risk waiting forever for your order. Even US customers claim they paid for faster shipping only to get the order weeks, and in other cases months later. Looks like shipping is a nightmare with this company even if you pay for faster delivery.

Reading the complaints, you may feel uncomfortable shopping on Nordstrom. But it’s okay, no need to fret. Is Nordstrom Online Store Safe?

Nordstrom is a legit company, no question about that. Their profile with the Better Business Bureau is positive too. Problem comes in when you like something, buy it and somehow things don’t go as planned and you need your money back. They don’t dish out refunds just like that, especially if you can’t get your ass to a physical store to make your case. Shipping can also be a nightmare for both domestic and international shipments.

But overall Nordstrom is pretty well known for having a positive shopping experience. So I would suspect that some of these complaints are not the norm.
