PrivacyGuard Review: Scam or Does It Really Work?

The thought of waking up to an empty bank account or my identity stolen scares the hell out of me. However, companies like PrivacyGuard claim we can now sleep better knowing our private information is safe. But if you’re anything like me, you know better than to sign up with them blindly. So that’s probably why you’re going through PrivacyGuard Reviews to determine whether they are legit. 

Well, this PrivacyGuard Review will reveal the truth. Unfortunately some of it may shock you. So I would stick around to the end if I were you!

What Is PrivacyGuard?

PrivacyGuard found online at PrivacyGuard.com offers identity monitoring, protection, identity theft protection and recovery services. We don’t know who is behind PrivacyGuard, but their parent company, Trilegiant Corporation, is headquartered at 6 High Ridge Park, Stamford, CT 06905, United States. 

How Does PrivacyGuard Work?

PrivacyGuard ideally offers different services designed to protect your private information. They monitor different data points that help detect suspicious activity involving your ID, bank credit cards, wallet, digital information and more, then alert you via text and email whenever there’s potential risk. They’ll then assist you to take the necessary steps to recover stolen information or work around the vulnerable areas. 

PrivacyGuard Features

There are a couple of features that make up PrivacyGuard including:

ID Verification Monitoring – alerts you whenever your ID is being misused or being involved in fraud. 

Dark Web Monitoring – scours the dark web in real time for suspicious activity involving your social security number and up to 10 credit cards or debit cards. 

Online Fraud Assistance – Members get to set alerts on fraud and potential risks involving their private data and guidance on how to recover their identity. 

Reduced Pre-approved Credit Card Offers – This feature reduces the number of pre-approved credit card offers and insurance offers that members may get. 

Online Directory Scan – 5scans various internet directories and search engines for your personal information including phone number, email addresses and mailing addresses.

Annual Public Records Report – With this feature, you’ll receive an annual report of your data from public sources including real estate records, court records. criminal records, bankruptcy, rulings and liens. 

Lost and Stolen Wallet Assistance – PrivacyGuard notifies your credit card company of stolen cards and requests replacements on your behalf. 

Mobile App – Their mobile app is available for both Android and iOS.  

How Much Does PrivacyGuard Cost?

At the time of this review, PrivacyGuard has three plans:

• Total Protection – $24.99 per month

PrivacyGuard also offers a 2-week trial period for any plan for just $1. After that if you wish to continue they’ll charge your card based on the subscription plan you signed up for. All plans include a $1 million identity theft insurance cover.

What Is The PrivacyGuard Refund Policy?

As a member, you can cancel at any time and they won’t bill you going forward. But PrivacyGuard won’t refund you for the current plan’s month after they’ve already billed your account. You can contact customer service to cancel or do it online.

How Do I Get Started with PrivacyGuard?

To get started with PrivacyGuard you can go here to sign up. They'll ask for your personal information including your name, email address, physical address, phone number, social security number, date of birth and so on. You can then choose a plan and complete your profile to complete the signup process. 

PrivacyGuard Complaints

PrivacyGuard, like any other similar service does have its shortcomings. We’ve listed them in the next section to help you determine whether it’s worth the money or not. 

No Family Plan? – At the time of writing, they only allows 18+ old members. They only monitor your children's social security numbers,and this is under the Total Protection plan only. So unlike most identity theft protection services, your family members below the age of 18 cannot be included in the plan you’ll pay for. 

They don’t offer Social Media Monitoring – This is a vital service which is again offered by most similar services. With PrivacyGuard, they haven’t included this option at the time of writing this review. 

No BBB Profile – They are not listed with the Better Business Bureau at this time. Be sure not to confuse them with Privacy Guard, a security company headquartered in Ohio, U.S. 

Is PrivacyGuard Worth It?

PrivacyGuard is legit, based on what we know so far. However, they do lack some essential services like a family plan and social media monitoring. I’m willing to bet you’ll find better options out there if you do your homework. So be sure to check out other options we’ve reviewed before like MyIDCare and Identity Guard.
